Reward referrals with vouchers, not points

You can now give customers a voucher instead of just points when someone they refer places their first order, opening up more ways to incentivize your referral program.

Voucher codes are allocated once the referee’s order clears the approval period, so you’re only ever rewarding verified referrals.

  • Voucher-based referral rewards, issued automatically when a referred order is confirmed
  • Rewards can be configured per tier, making it easy to offer higher-value incentives to VIP members
  • Rewards can be set as trigger-only, so they’re exclusively available through the referral rule

The integrated loyalty page now meets a higher accessibility standard for shoppers using screen readers and keyboards.

What’s improved:

  • Keyboard-only shoppers can reach and activate everything: earn tiles, reward buttons, copy and share buttons, and carousels
  • Screen readers now announce notifications and errors that were previously silent, such as “You earned 50 points” or “Out of stock”
  • Icon-only buttons like copy code and social share now have proper labels
  • Page sections and headings are structured so screen-reader users can navigate the page
  • Progress bars, tier comparisons, and status icons now communicate their meaning, with support for “reduce motion” preferences

Choose how customers join your loyalty program

Historically, customers have been automatically enrolled when they sign in or create an account. Now you can switch to manual opt-in, so customers choose whether to join rather than being added by default.

When enabled, a “Join program” button appears on your integrated loyalty page, customer accounts page, and post-purchase Thank You page. Once a customer joins, everything works as normal including points, rewards, and welcome flows all trigger in the same way.

Control which rewards are available by country

If you use Shopify Markets, you can now choose which countries each reward is available in. Run region-specific promotions, restrict free shipping to domestic customers, or limit free product rewards to the markets where items are actually stocked, all without workarounds.

Reward restrictions apply across your storefront, customer accounts, and point of sale.

Automatic tier recalculation on refunds

You now have more control over how spend-based tiers work. If a customer receives a refund, you can choose to have their tier automatically recalculated, so if their updated spend no longer meets the threshold, they’ll be moved to the appropriate tier.

This ensures customers are always placed in the tier they genuinely qualify for, keeping your programme accurate and fair.
