The Ultimate Guide to Retention for Shopify Stores

Rewards page

Wave goodbye to popups with a customized rewards page

The easier it is to use, the more your customers will engage with your loyalty program.

Remember, members who redeem rewards are proven to have a higher lifetime value so that engagement is extremely valuable.

Create a rewards page that shows customers what’s so great about your program, how easy it is to participate, and what rewards they have available to them. Then, sit back and watch participation increase!

Your rewards page checklist

  • Signpost your rewards page in at least two places on your website including the home page. The more visible the better, so make one of those places your top navigation
  • Measure success by keeping an eye on your customer enrolment rate - a page live for 12 months typically achieves a benchmark of 41%
  • Take the Grandma test - if you showed Nana your rewards page, would she understand how the program will benefit her?

Best Practice

Follow the best practices below to create a high-performing rewards page that drives greater participation

Keep it on brand

The most successful loyalty programs are an integrated part of both brand and marketing strategy, so there is no reason for your rewards page to feel like a separate destination.

Make sure your rewards page looks like any other page on your Shopify store - the same colors, fonts, icons and image style.

Your rewards page gives you one more place to show off your beautiful branding, and ensure that your customers recognize it easily when they see it on ads or in their inboxes.

Highlight the perks

Your rewards page gives you a central location where you can clearly communicate the value that customers will get if they join your program. Don’t miss this opportunity as it is key to driving program participation.

Ensure that the rewards you offer are clearly laid out on your page, and that you are showing visitors how many points they need to unlock those rewards too.

It’s also super important to show customers how they can earn those rewards. Your page should show all the ways that customers can earn points - from account creation and sharing their birthdays, to reviews, social follows and referrals.

Do your best to use compelling language and headings to make these earning opportunities sound fun. This also extends to loyalty tiers if you have them - make sure they are portrayed in the most enticing way possible on your rewards page.

Make it personal

Personalization typically results in a 10 to 15% revenue boost and your rewards page is the perfect place to make things personal.

Ensure that your rewards page has both a logged in and a logged out view. When customers log in they should be able to see how many points they have, and which rewards are available for them to redeem. If you have a tiered program, they should also be able to easily ascertain which tier they are currently in.

This personalization is what loyalty programs are all about, and it will help you to increase your reward redemption rate, as well as motivating customers to engage with the program more to unlock their next reward.

Top tip

Give customers the content they need to understand your rewards page.

We recommend including a ‘How it Works’ section, as well as Frequently Asked Questions. If you have the bandwidth in your team, then creating explainer videos that show members how to interact with your program will positively impact engagement and reward redemption.
